Sculpture: Bounce by Ronald A. Westerhuis

Amazing Sculpture by artist Ronald A. Westerhuis

Words from the artist about the piece:

It started 10 years ago.
After a search through the world, seven years of travel.
Starting a career in the offshore world.
Oilrigs, heavy structures and massive pieces of stainless steel.
After going through the first experimental forms, shapes and material, I have found my way.
Working with stainless steel, a metal as cold, hard, indestructible as vulnerable and sensitive, a
medium full of character inviting to touch.
I create sculptures as elements of positive energy on its surrounding.
Lines, balance, gravity, finishing and new techniques are explored in my work.

Driven by the power of sculptures, I am constantly in search of the ultimate shape and
dimension.
As, “The Angel of the North”, “The Arch of St Louise”, “The Eiffel Tower” but also the pyramids,
I want to create and build landmarks.
Landmark as a traditional form of recognition for its beholder, economical boost, pride of
cities, nations and one day planets.
Looking at science, industry and architecture which reach for the highest possible.

Quotes from Westerhuis:

“Travelling, stainless steel and art are reasons for my existence."

“Everything concerning my contact with the world can be traced back to emotions and philosophy."

“Without starting points and not searching for an ideal, I don't believe in boundaries."

“By placing my sculptures I find my way to peace and the future."

“Considering my sculptures as silent status, indestructibly dated.”
